Law and Policy for Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Japan

In the introduction the author goes through Japan's attitude towards and framework for reducing green house gas (GHG) emissions in Japan. In the second part the author analyzes the Japanese Climate Law and the feasibility of Cross-Border Uniform Rules for GHG emissions and suggests different measures to accelerate the reduction of GHG emissions. The structure and instruments of energy and climate policies in Japan are introduced in the third part. The author concludes that even though Japan undertook upon itself to reduce GHG emissions by 6 %, the emissions have, in fact, been on rise and therefore more stringent measures need to be implemented.
