Tiivistelmä

Italy is a Member State of the European Community since the very beginning in 1956 and as such, it has the duty to implement all EC legislation. As a matter of fact, most environmental law, energy law and climate change law in Italy has nowadays a European origin. It is nevertheless important to mention that, notwithstanding the mandatory character of EC law for our country, Italy’s attitude towards EC Community Environmental Law is generally of scarce awareness of what is going on at European level. The implementation of EC directives in the environmental field into national law is generally late and characterized by limited comprehension of the important implications on the long run for Italian citizens and business. The article aims at presenting the evolution of the Italian legal system in the field of climate change in the context of European and International legislative framework, taking into account its peculiarities and problematics.
