Freezing Europe: The European Account Preservation Order and Forum Shopping in the European Judicial Area

The purpose of the paper is to highlight certain issues embedded to the EAPO (European Account Preservation Order) and to answer the question as to how the establishment of the EAPO is liable to affect forum shopping in the European judicial area. The paper starts with a description and discussion of the history and characteristics of the EAPO. After the perusal of this instrument, the paper culminates in an analysis of the reciprocal workings of the EAPO with national freezing orders, while also offering insight into the possible but ambivalent de facto application of the EAPO by the national courts.
