According to the opponent’s report, Anu Mutanen’s doctoral dissertation develops an impressive, fascinating and remarkably comprehensive scholarly inquiry on the changing concept of sovereignty. The main strengths of the thesis are presented to consist of the authors extensive and detailed comparative research, thorough and informative account and analysis of the evolution and transformation of the Finnish Constitution and the developement of a concept of pluralistic state sovereignty as a new understanding of sovereignty in the contemporary European multi-level constitutional setting by the author. It is a thesis that may well go on to influence constitutional thinking and constitutional drafting in Europe, and set new research agendas. (Edilex-toimitus)
