Both public and private regulation apply to manipulation of sports results and the above account shows that the regulation in Denmark is both detailed and comprehensive. The scarce numbers of both criminal and disciplinary cases seem to indicate that match-fixing is not an everyday occurrence in Denmark. The same picture is seen in other Nordic countries. Therefore, the obvious conclusion is that match-fixing is not a problem neither in Denmark nor in other Nordic countries. However, match-fixing is a global phenomenon and linked to international crime and seems to be an increasing problem. The fight against match-fixing cannot be won even with the best legal framework alone, cooperation between public bodies and sports organisations is necessary.
