This article treats the right of a private applicant to challenge the legality of the acts of the EU institutions. The old locus standi rules were amended by the Treaty of Lisbon. The reform is based on the established case-law and fills the
widest gaps that have been identified. However, the judicial protection of private applicants remains limited.
