The Time and Cost Factors in Finnish Institutional Arbitration

The purpose of this article is to examine how time and cost factors are dealt with and affect institutional arbitration in Finland. The time factor refers to provisions in the rules which aim at regulating the length of the arbitral proceedings including the participation of the institution, and the cost factor refers to provisions that regulate the evaluation and apportionment of costs incurred by the parties undergoing institutional arbitral proceedings. The focus is however on the determination of size of the arbitrators’ fees.
